If not already on MFW with qa enabled: CFW355-OTHEROS++-SPECIAL .PUP install that or make a MFW with the necessary AIM/IIM patches. and set qa flag by following this tutorial here: Set QA Flag
Tutorial to downgrade via qa flags!
Install qa_flag_extra.pkg (qa_flag_extra.pkg) and run it, you will hear 3 beeps and it will return to XMB.
Make sure you have turn System Update Debug on, you can find it in "Debug Settings"
This flag sets the ability to downgrade via Recovery Menu, you can not downgrade from XMB, it will give you an error.
Put a .PUP onto your usb (E:PS3/UPDATE/UPDAT.PUP), boot into recovery menu, go to system update and downgrade .
Notes: You are possible to go below your stock firmware without bricking the console with this method.
If you want to find your lowest applicable version you can downgrade to: get_applicable_version.pkg (shows lowest applicable version through UPD messages)
Have fun!
